What is the “Shadow Caregiving System”?
How is it affecting multiple generations’ financial stability and investments? Incorporating extended or long-term care in a financial plan requires a difficult conversation. Starting the conversation is not enough.
Regardless of how a client defines family, there are physical, psychological, and financial implications when a child becomes the parent to their parent. More and more state governments are acknowledging the unmanageable budget impact of the cost of providing extended or long-term care to an aging population.
Learn about a three-step formula to guide client conversations into actionable, organized steps to help protect both the client and the caregiver from unraveling the financial stability that you and they work to build.
In "The 'Shadow Caregiving System'" by Carroll Golden, you will:
- Gain insight into who makes up the “Shadow Caregiving System.” Is it in Crisis?
- Discover who pays for long-term care services and provides support;
- Review the emergence of federal and state publicly funded LTC legislation, programs, and proposals;
- Learn about a flexible Three-Step Guide to conduct family conversations or help create your own approach;
- Consider options to provide funding and services to minimize client physical, psychological, and financial instability and/or caregiver burnout.
